ENTRY DESCRIPTION
What looks at first glance like a grayish structure here are thousands of blue-eyed cormorants on rocks and shaggy grass. Photographed during a short visit to the Falkland Islands. While most visitors were fixated on penguins and albatrosses, I became aware of this huge colony at a greater distance. It wasn't until I looked at the photos on my home computer that the actual abstraction of the structure became apparent, the omission of details and the reduction to a structure with possible outlines of a flying bird. Converting to black and white and enhancing the contrast resulted in an even more intense impression.
