Architecture: Honorable Mention 2021 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Taken in February 2021 in Manchester, these arches are an iconic part of the Town Hall Extension in St. Peter's Square. The arches are one of the most photographed places in Manchester, as photographers are drawn to the symmetry and leading lines. The missing light shade has been debated heavily amongst my fellow photographers with some wanting perfect symmetry whilst others like that it was taken as it was on the day. Another difference of opinion emerged as to whether the image draws down to the left or to the right or if both opinions are just optical illusions. I love the way it has caused people to see it in so many different ways and to have had discussions about it.
