Architecture: Honorable Mention 2021 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Les Bacalans, Bordeaux, France, 2018. This picture was taken inside one of the 8 silos of 35 meters high present in this district of Bordeaux in full renewal. Indeed, real witnesses of the past, these silos were used to store grains, mainly wheat. At the time of the shooting, the future of these silos was uncertain. But since the silos are part of the "Port de la Lune" classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site, a rehabilitation was fortunately mandatory. The first two silos are currently used as an entrance for a luxury hotel and the rest will be transformed into an art gallery. These historical witnesses of the industrial port of Bordeaux still have many years ahead of them.
