ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is part of a series of images about the things my mother left behind after her passing and it reveals items that I found on top of the small cabinet next to her bed. She would always say a prayer before she went to sleep and I have found this ongoing photographic record keeping a cathartic way of remembering my mother which has enabled me to record personal aspects of her life that might otherwise be overlooked.
AUTHOR
I am a self taught, amateur photographer, living in London. I am inspired by the depth of the creative lighting so masterfully presented by the Dutch golden age artists who invoked such emotive visions of life. My still life images hanker back to the days of dark and shadow using natural light to create atmosphere and depth. I want my images to conjure allegorical themes within our times – telling stories and feelings about today. I strive to bring back life to that which would ordinarily be overlooked.
