ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The West Pier Ruins are a much loved and photographed Landmark in Brighton UK, where I live.
I wanted to create an image that had a different point of view from the many good examples that I had seen before.
So I framed the ruins off-centre, ignoring many of the foreground columns which act as an 'avenue' to the shoreline and decaying structure beyond.

AUTHOR
I have had an interest in photography all my life. I first flirted with picture taking as an early teenager with my grandfather’s old Kodak folding camera.
My early photographs were a record of places and events. Of loved ones, family and friends.
As I developed my photography I began to think about an image as not only a record but as something that can be artistic and provoking.
A composition. To be admired and enjoyed. Compelling. Uncomfortable. Beautiful. Detailed. Dreamy. Atmospheric. Original.
