AUTHOR
I’ve been teaching at universities and high schools for two decades while traveling and living in 76 countries, taking photos and storytelling along the way to stimulate my and my students’ critical thinking through cross-cultural experiences. Photography helps me understand; storytelling helps me explain. Currently, I bridge the First Year Writing Program at DePaul University in Chicago and Hainan Normal University in Haikou, China as part of their Global Engagement programs. Previously, I facilitated teacher training and taught writing courses at Asian University for Women in Chittagong, Bangladesh. For three years before that, I taught sophomore World Literature as Chair of the University of Chicago Charter School’s English Department. In 2019, I was the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Fellow in Israel to promote mutual understanding among Palestinian and Israeli students. I specialize in education, photos, and stories that are inquisitive, real world, and global.
