Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2021 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I was reluctant to go out with the weather as it was. A storm was approaching and if I wanted to capture it, I'd have to move fast. As it turned out, I'm glad I did as I was lucky enough to have captured this image just before the sky unloaded. I took a long exposure to capture this image with a 6-stop lens. It was shot at the pier in Southampton, Ontario Canada in August of 2021.
AUTHOR
Murray is a travel and fine art photographer based in Toronto, Canada. After an impressive career as a Creative Director, Art Director and Designer, Murray dropped out of the advertising world to resurrect and pursue his passion for photography and travel.
Although his website exhibits a great deal of colour, his real passion lies within the world of black and white. Brett Weston, Sally Mann, Michael Kenna, Sarah Moon, John Caponigro, Penn and Avedon have been an influence and an inspiration to him as he moves forward with perfecting his art.
His subject matter varies between landscape, people and street photography having travelled to some of the world's most inhospitable and demanding destinations. He believes the skills he developed as an art director have influenced his approach to composition and use of light.
