ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When this mayfly visited my crowndaisies I thought this is a wonderful and poetic scene. Mayflies in this adult stage mate and die within a very short time afterwards. In the end this mayfly decided to spend its last hours on an also dying companion. It was pretty late that day already so I am not sure if it sat down to sleep or die but it remained perfectly still for a long time. Enough for me to set up my camera for a minimalistic capture and to enjoy to just watch it breath for a while through my lens.
I used a tripod, a remote control release, a 105mm macrolens, a dark background and flash diffused through a thin plate of polystyrene for a soft and sublte light.
Postprocessing was done in Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and ON1 effects.

AUTHOR
I am a German black and white fine art photographer focusing on macro, flora and still life.
Photography is meditation to me. Getting lost in the moment. When I choose a subject, I enjoy to take a lot of time to explore its beauty. My aim is to capture the essence of the feeling I have while looking at all the wonderful details nature reveals. I like to get close and cherish what is not readily visible for the naked eye. When it comes to still lifes, I like to transport a feeling I have using minimalistic concepts.
Beauty is everywhere. Sometimes in the most ordinary things that souround us. My minimalistic approach in black and white eliminates the distractions that prevented me from truly seeing this.
Don't be a stranger. I like to get in touch! Just reach out to me on Instagram (@cherishthemomentart).
All my love!
