ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In the 1800s until the mid 1900s, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, mulberry trees represented a very important economic resource for the production of silk.
Now this activity has disappeared, but the mulberry trees continue to live in the countryside and along the roads.
With pruning, these trees take on particular shapes: among the branches you can see strange figures, faces, hands...
They are the memory of all the women and child workers who worked and suffered in those factories: they had to dip their fingers in semi-boiling water.
These trees are living monuments of a not so distant era.
These trees stand out towards the sky like monoliths.
