ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo was taken in The Thar Desert during my trip around Rajasthan, the largest province of India. It presents a young girl squatting in the raw surroundings of her backyard. In her left hand, she is holding a chapati – a round, flat bread, the daily staple of the inhabitants of this remote area.
The rough, brick-wall background creates an excellent, stark contrast with the smooth beauty of the girl’s face, accentuating its exotic features, while the sunlight brings out its radiance. The shawl wrapped around her shoulders and over her head covers her body, thus framing her face and making it the prime focus for the viewer.
She looks at me, and I manage to capture the modest glamour of her gaze.
AUTHOR
My name is Kinga Litynska. I am a teacher, traveller, author, amateur photographer and nature lover. With my backpack and on a low budget, I choose my own paths. They might be narrow and slippery, and yet, they are mine, proving that what once was merely a dream can really happen...
From Poland to China I got hitch-hiking. Traversing Siberia, I reached The Far East because where the horizon ends, adventure begins, opening the door to the natural world and encounters with native people whose ordinary lives – happiness and sorrows – I passionately capture through the lens of my camera and describe on the pages of my travel books.
