ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I love encountering real people wherever they are and capturing them as they are. I don't know this boy or his family. But after talking with them and seeing this boy running and chasing his dog along the shore I asked to take a picture.
In my mind showing us to ourselves IS the purpose of photography. Our strengths, weaknesses, our pains, triumphs. Also to bring to light the ugliness that can be in us; as well as what we see in this image. The potential for so much adventure, growth, possibility and life. That beauty is each of us.
This picture was taken on a beach in Kauai, December 2019.
