ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Shot on film, this imposing gentleman, a now retired CSIRO scientist, relaxes in his old jumper seated on a rickety old chair. Far removed from the days of grind and keeping up to date with and beyond the latest scientific evidence pertaining to his area of relevance. Overseas placements, supervising Phd students, research program leader and distinguished member of scientific societies are all on a life’s work c.v.
AUTHOR
Encompassing both film and digital techniques, Kerrie is interested in the emotional response and feeling generated by the photographic medium. Communication with the viewer is an important aspect of this process. The power of an image to attract, carry a message, and, in turn, invoke a lasting impression upon the viewer, is paramount. Constraints within the photographic process are not limited by imagination and interpretation. A particular affinity with monochrome, Kerrie also encompasses colour and tonal qualities in her work. Experimental, including multiple exposures on film, contemporary landscape and more recently a focus on portraiture, provide an evolving aspect to her work.
