ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The pavilion, which was the place of cultural, political and cultural exchange of scholars in history, has been inserting my unique way into the picture to express modern simplicity and harmony with nature.
The same goes for photo darkroom work. According to historical records, there were more than 1,700 pavilions in Korea. However, there are 270 registered cultural assets and 300 non-registered cultural assets. So far, I have been filming over 250 pavilions all over the country since 2008. I shot on a 4x5 size black and white film, and I also worked on developing and printing the film in my darkroom workshop.
I believe that I have a great mission to maintain and preserve our traditional culture. So I always practice my mind, mirroring the lessons of the Chinese poet Li Bai, "If lumps are polished without interruption, they will become needles someday." I have enhanced my professional skills and visit places where I haven't taken them yet, and would like to leave my country's pavilion in our history as a recording culture with exhibitions and photo books. This work is not only an opportunity to instill a deeply rooted historical consciousness to our descendants in Korea, but also to be considered as a mission that is meaningful in terms of inheriting a global heritage.
