ENTRY DESCRIPTION
“There is a place,
for you, for they, for us.
let's talk,
let's call,
let's rise.
Today we are one.
Let's talk.”
“Public Matter”
These unedited images are a representation some aspects of human behaviour and social injustice. I use different lighting techniques to isolate and abstract bodies as metaphors of mental health status and issues present nowadays. Some of which are fed by my experiences as a camp queer person raised in a catholic and oppressive environment.
As a part of a societal and digital age that’s addicted to validation, success, fame and money, I see myself and my LGBTQ+ community falling into a cycle of drugs, sex and social media technology, in an attempt to fill up the emptiness, loneliness and frustrations many of us experience.
AUTHOR
I am an Art-Based photographer based in London. I am obsessed with humanity and its ups and downs. That is why I am always so driven to depict people, cultures, and matters that I believe they need representation so we can all grow from it.
Starting as
a Queer boy born and raised in an Andalucian Catholic Family in a town called Rota, I always had a huge interest in art. Not being allowed to study art, I studied a two-year graphic design course and worked on it for 5 years while my interest in photography grew and evolved. I moved to London in 2009 after the break out of the economic recession to pursue my dream to be a photographer. In London, I studied for two years of national diplomas and began making self-published books and exhibitions.
It’s been a journey of self-discovery from the start of my practice as an immigrant in another country, which took me to capture quotidian moments and everything that sorrows human behavior and the experiences within. It is a projection and interpretation of humanity, mental health, equality, and real-life that becomes surreal.
