Fine Art: 2nd Place Winner 2021 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Oceans Apart was taken at the iconic Mereweather ocean baths located in Newcastle NSW Australia. This image is from a created vision of the handrail that leads down the ramp into the ocean baths. I care for a gentleman that was starting loosing his mobility due to Parkinson's Disease he seemed to have difficulty walking across areas without having something to hold onto...everything seems to be to far apart. Living with that fear of falling would be treble feeling. Sometimes we take our health for granted this image helps put that into perspective.
AUTHOR
Steven Algie is an international recognised fine art black and white photographer residing in Maitland NSW Australia.
His work has a primary focus on landscape and long-exposure minimalism, where it is noted for it's simple elements, leading lines and negative space.
Steve has a goal to create imagery based on a created vision and depicting a world that does not exist while using black and white as a medium.
Through his approach, it is first and foremost based on how he chooses to portray subjects in an otherworldly, ethereal and symbolic manner. Through this he has embraced modern photographic processing and he has embraced art!
I believe this is a true reflection of one's soul and an extension of one's voice and in photograph there are multiple ways to create an image based on this value.
