ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In a very warm autumn day, the Rötspitze (3495 mt.) stands majestic on the bog at its base inside the Hohe Tauern mountain range.
The High Tauern are a mountain range on the main chain of the Central Eastern Alps, comprising the highest peaks east of the Brenner Pass. The crest forms the southern border of the Austrian states of Salzburg, Carinthia and East Tyrol, with a small part in the southwest belongs to the Italian province of South Tyrol. The range includes Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner at 3,798 metres (12,461 ft) above the Adriatic.
AUTHOR
Filippo Macchi was born in Formigine in the province of Modena in 1974.
He approached photography at a very young age driven by his love for the mountains and the need to preserve the memories of those natural environments to which he has been linked since childhood.
Growing up in the analogue era, he has gained excellent experience in the world of black and white film photography, his passion for the world of the darkroom is still not dormant today.
A love, that for black and white, which once the transition to digital was completed, found full fulfillment through the creation of unique works in which Nature always represents the undisputed and absolute protagonist.
Since 2019 he has joined the Nature First movement, the alliance for responsible nature photography.
