ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Cataracts are one of the top causes responsible for blindness in the world. Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures in New Zealand and the majority of cases are due to age related causes. The WHO quotes; “It is unacceptable that 65 million people are blind or have impaired sight when their vision could have been corrected overnight with a cataract operation". Fortunately for my Mother, she lives in a developed country. She said it is "remarkable" how well she can see after her surgery and is grateful to have had easy access to undergo this procedure.
