Street: Honorable Mention 2021 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Taken in the summer of 2021 inside the railroad tunnels above Donner Lake near Truckee, CA. After a long day of hiking my wife reached over and grabbed our daughter's hand as we approached the exit of the dark tunnels.
AUTHOR
Since picking up my first camera in 1999, photography has been a vital creative outlet and a way to navigate the world around me. However, in 2015, when my mother began showing signs of dementia, my personal world shifted. Anxiety, sleepless nights, and panic attacks became a constant, reflecting the uncertainty and distress. Photography transformed from a passion into a form of solace.
In my work, I sought stillness in the midst of turmoil, focusing on capturing moments of quiet grace in daily life. No longer driven by trends, I started to focus on what truly mattered: the subtle, serene connection between humanity and nature.
