ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Standing Proud" from the Water is life series.

The wild mustangs live in the southwest of the United States. These wild beings live in the harshest environments, from dry desert to snowy mountains, yet their heartiness allows them to survive. When out photographing them, I tend to capture moments that allows us to see their spirt of freedom, perseverance, and the bonds that they form with each other. This year was a drought year for many parts of the southwest including Utah where these images where taken. I captured them in their natural environment, playing in deep filled mudholes from recent rains. They played, bathed, and rolled in the mud enjoying the very essence that gives us all life -water. Childhood memories come to life when I see wild beings enjoy what we also enjoy.

AUTHOR
Ximena is a self-taught watercolor/acrylic artist and photographer. Born in Ecuador, raised in the United States and with education as her profession, Ximena has decided to pursue her love of the arts on a full-time basis. She loves to share her love for nature and wildlife in both mediums. Photography has allowed her to see the world from a different perspective and is serving as a pathway for people to connect to wildlife images in a way that highlights our own life experiences.
