Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2021 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
It was lunch time at Yala National park. I was watching at a group of monkeys squeaking & grunting right throughout and were expressing their different types of emotion all together. There was one dominant male monkey who was handling the youngsters. He even interfered in their fights, and I suppose it needed a break. This shot was captured while the male dominant monkey sat on the branch of a tree and yawned with its mouth opened wide until his sharp canine teeth was clearly captured.
The toque macaque is a reddish-brown-coloured Old World monkey endemic to Sri Lanka but they have unfortunately got used to the habit of being fed by the strangers who visit the natural park. This has caused a conflict between the monkey and the human being.
