Architecture: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
An image of (part) of the new Underground Station at Tottenham Court Road, on the new Elizabeth Line, part of the Crossrail Project, linking West and East London.
The Stations are vast and impressive in scale, and designed to allow free flowing movement of passengers, and contain some wonderful architectural detail and stunning lighting. I managed to shoot this image on a quiet period in the evening.
AUTHOR
I am a photographer based in Chester, North West England, an area of the UK blessed with some amazing countryside and coastline, and a strong industrial heritage, all of this influences my photographs.
I love being out and about with my Nikon Z6II camera, it's amazing how the light changes, you can re visit the same place, and every time you go back, it looks completely different, I try to capture the beauty of the landscape through photography. If find Photography adds another dimension to my life, it's also wonderful for the soul and piece of mind.
I have only, in the last few years, rediscovered my passion for photography, and in particular black and white fine art work. I remember back in my University Student days reading and being knocked out by the amazing work of Bill Brandt and Ansel Adams, and more modern photographers such as Michael Kenna and, looking back now, it was these images that made a real lasting impression on me.
