Conceptual: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When I first saw this building, it reminded me of a human face. As I watched the man pass by, I realised how the buildings around us are all built by humans, and yet the lifespan of humans is just a blip in front of the amount of time some of the buildings around us have existed. Some of them were built centuries ago and hold so many stories, emotions and history within them, a lot of which we may not even be aware of. Humans come and go, but the buildings and the memories contained within them remain.

AUTHOR
As a portrait photographer with a strong background in theatre, I'm used to working with models, MUA's and stylists to create a vibrant theatrical scene. Because of the pandemic, I was forced to slow down my photo projects and so I couldn't interact anymore with my subjects or have the level of creativity I had before. For this reason I decided to go back to my origins in analog photography. I re-discovered the pleasure of being an observer of reality rather than a creator of scenery, and I felt once again the thrill of shooting slow. The excitement of shooting with film is endless. It forces you to think carefully before pushing the button, obligating you to give more importance to the moment rather than clicking mindlessly as so many of us are used to doing now with the complex technologies of our smartphones. The pandemic impacted my life harshly, but it gave me the precious opportunity to breathe life again into a type of photography that I lost and forgot about.
