Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The sub-tropical rainforest around Binna Burra on the heritage listed Lamington Plateau is often beset by rain and fog. The latter clothes the rich green forest in an eerie mask where depth form and texture win out over colour in creating the mood of the scene.
AUTHOR
I am an amateur photographer entering the field after a career as a senior university executive, education professor and high school science teacher. I have owned some kind of camera for over fifty years but have only had the time to call my photography a hobby for the last ten years or so. It is now a favourite pursuit. My interests in photography now focus on wildlife, landscapes, gardens and to a lesser extent portraiture.
I have excellent equipment and have found my retirement hobby challenging and rewarding in several ways: managing equipment, learning the science and art of photography, and developing a more informed and pleasing aesthetic. In short, I love photography, most especially learning how to do it.
