Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Buttes form by weathering and erosion when hard Cap rock overlies a layer of less resistant rock. The harder Cap rock protects the softer rock below from wind abrasion which leaves it standing isolated. Buttes are mostly prevalent in the western USA. These buttes are 15 miles out in the desert that surround Paige, Arizona, United States. DJI min2 12mm.
AUTHOR
I am a photographer and artist focusing on nature, landscape, macro-photography and photography printing. I am passionate about revealing nature's beauty and expression in my imagery. My images come from a vision that “the end print is not meant to represent reality”; instead, it represents an “ideal vision of reality”. I am self-taught, taking up photography in the late 1990s. I print and frames all of my own images. i am an active member of the Lodi Community Art Center and Gallery and Chair of the annual Photography Show. I am also an active member of Elk Grove Artists. I regularly contribute framed and matted photographic art to fundraising events - the KVIE Art Auction, the UC Davis Children's Hospital, Children’s Painting for Miracles, Serotonin Surge, Western Neuropathy Association, UC Davis Free Clinic Fundraising, Pour for Prevention of Child Abuse, UC Hospice, San Joaquin County Hospice, Cancer Society, etc. Many of my images are from around the United States, locations in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe, yet I still create most of my favorite images from within California and Oregon Coast.
