Doorway to Another World. Mýrdalsjökull Glacier on a wet and snowy day. by Patricia Turner (United States)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo was taken in Iceland as we hiked on the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier on our way to an ice cave. It was a cold and snowy and miserable hike but this image immediately captured my imagination and made me forget about the weather conditions. The glacier covers the still active Katla Volcano. This ice formation appears as a doorway to another world - possibly into the bowels of the volcano. It beckons one to come in. Unfortunately, the ice was too unstable to get any closer. Otherwise, who knows what we would've found....
AUTHOR
I am an amateur photographer. Although I've been taking photographs for years, I am just now beginning to pursue the "art" of photography. This comes in my later years when I am getting older and have time to devote to a real passion.
