Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Brazzaville (Congo) – August 2022. Using the summer holidays to go to Africa to have a volunteer missionary experience in the "Centre de Santé Ste Elisabeth" clinic in Makabandilou, a suburb of Brazzaville, and improvising an itinerant clinic in Djiri, a suburb of Brazzaville where another mission of Friars Minor resides, is what Dina, an Italian pediatrician flanked by a group of young people from the Franciscan Missionary Center of Puglia and Molise (Italy), did.
In the clinic, run by Friar Italo, visiting children with diseases such as malaria and gastroenteritis free of charge and walking through the streets of the village, between the sand and the tin houses, with a backpack full of medicines and useful health tools to visit the children that the parish priest Friar Micael knew were most in need of care.
To reach out to those in need, to a people who do not know what it means to have health care, much less assistance on their doorstep.
The mission of being there, of giving one's time and abilities to create bridges of fraternity and solidarity, to put love into circulation, with the trust that then God will multiply it and do the rest.
