Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2022 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
April 2022. Afurada (Portugal).
Afurada is a small fishing village located next to the mouth of the Douro River, where time seems to have stopped, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal).
Low colored houses at the foot of a hill, fresh fish of the day and something that caught my attention, the laundry room next to the fishing dock where the "lavadeiras" still wash clothes by hand. They are then drained and dried on a peculiar clothesline built with wooden poles, where the sun and the sea breeze do their work.
Neighborhood meeting place and conversations that complete the magic of the scene.
