ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Modern haute couture dresses inspired from the Greek traditional costume are being photographed next to the traditional dresses that served as the original inspiration for them. Each garment is a tribute to a different part of Greece, from the islands to the mainland. Locations include, Ioannina, Spetses, Chios, Karpathos and Trikala. Local women from each place pose while wearing their own traditional costumes and the modern piece always stands among them. This project is a tribute to Greek art, textile, expression, femininity as well as an ode to the versatility and diversity of the Traditional Garment. Through this project we can look at the past and see how its elements and its timeless aesthetic values can work in the present and be transformed into the values of today through creativity and art.
