AUTHOR
I am a 29 year old creative professional from Brazil. With an extensive professional record in the film industry as a producer and screenwriter -- combined with an academic background in social sciences -- I seek to make authentic, socially informed projects spanning multiple visual media. After gaining recognition for commercial video work, I decided to focus my energies earnestly into documentary photography and filmmaking. The work submitted for these awards is a culmination of a year long process of editing and publishing my first monograph -- Wax & Gold -- a meditation on modern Ethiopia's struggle between modernity and tradition. Next year I plan to embark on my next project -- The Old Believers -- a study of a small community of Russian speaking orthodox christians trying to keep their faith alive in the southern end of Brazil.
