Abstract: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Nothing but a UV light was used to draw 'light' onto the model (who sat in a completely dark room). The photo was taken at the slowest shutter speed possible & minimum post-processing was used (the image was changed to black&white in post-processing). The amount of light varied according to how many times I painted the same spot of how close the light was to the models' skin/fabric.
I wanted to use a different method of photography to achieve a more statuesque figure of a subject giving one the feeling that they are staring at a real sculpture.
AUTHOR
Through her love of exploration, Céline Topangu travelled to many countries worldwide. She learned and discovered different cultures, which helped develop and harness her creative vision to fit in and showcase the many different accents from around the globe.
Her work is often bold and abstract, although some might have visual connections to classical paintings with depictions of motionless statues. She works in series, and each piece informs the next through a theme. A true believer in “letting creativity take control,” it is not uncommon for Topangu to start creative projects simultaneously as she finishes with another.
Topangu earned her psychology degree in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she currently resides with her three children.
