Fashion / Beauty: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My picture «UNREACHABLE PLACES» was taken during a ballet gala with principal dancers from the most prestigious ballet companies in the world.
The choreography made the dancers appear as one and the movements were in perfect syntony.
I would like to shortly explain the concept in order to make you understand the deeper meaning of this artwork:
According to the Symposium by Plato there was the ideal form of a human being called “androgynous”, both male and female, in perfect balance and capable to equal even gods. Zeus out of jealousy crippled them by chopping them in half and ever since they have been looking for their other half. That is the reason why people in love feel “whole” when they have found each other.
This choreography went straight to the point of two halves finally finding each other, finding wholeness.
I was in love with the idea behind the choreography and spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect moment and eventually was lucky to get this magnificent shot where the movement, light and music were at their climax.
Finally I am thrilled to reassume the whole concept of my work in a nutshell:
Being able to capture the depth of an artwork and it’s universal truth is the fundamental reason of my work and the difference between nowadays mainstream black and white photography and a true peace of art!
