Fashion / Beauty: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Shweta Tripathi and I had always wanted to collaborate, and the creative discussions we often had over Instagram and texts were always fun and creatively invigorating. That is, until this time, when she flew down to Bengaluru be a part of my project titled, ‘The Anxiety Series’. While the first day went in the telling stories through mood based images for the series, we had one more day to just lighten up and hang out over coffee which is when this portrait was made.
Knowing that the world loves her for her gripping performances in films like ‘Masaan’ and ‘Haraamkhor’, and very recently in the popular series ‘Mirzapur’ and ‘Made in Heaven’ had given me a headstart on conversations. But as we spoke, she unfurled as this really down to earth and jolly person with utter warmth in her demeanour. Time was passing by pleasantly between work talks and random chuckles as we sat there in a café in Bengaluru, while I had the opportunity to click this candid portrait of hers. I attribute it to a chanced combination of diffused natural light, a breezy mood, and the grace in her expressions and laughter alike.
Shweta Tripathi is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi film industry. She came to limelight with the critics favourite, 'Masaan' (2015) where she mesmerised everyone with her acting skills. AUTHOR
A published photographer, an award-winning filmmaker, an avid storyteller- I go by many tags. But here’s how I’d rather describe myself- I like to see the world through my lens more than with my bare eyes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. From having been published by media mammoths like the United Nations, National Geographic, The Guardian, and Daily Mail, to winning the heart of a small town girl back in the Aru Valley with a picture I took of her, my audience has been eclectic.
My journey as a photographer started in 2009, and was escalated when I graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, L.A.; the best film school in the world. Since then, I have found a suitable home for my skill as a fine art photographer and a filmmaker. When the world is still waking up, I’m usually busy crafting a fashion photo shoot or prepping for a wedding I have to document. I often mould my stories into reality through photo narratives and abruptly book trips to explore the different corners of the world. When I am not away, I find my home in Bengaluru, and more often than not, behind my camera lens.
