AUTHOR
Tomas Andreas was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1990, and has lived in the United States for most of his life. Growing up in Hudson County, New Jersey, he was drawn to the ever-evolving cityscape of Manhattan just across the river from his bedroom window. This led to a fascination for the relationship of people and their environments, also correlated with the passage of time. Tomas primarily works with black and white photography. He’s inspired by its abstract quality, as well as the timeless nature which can also correspond to the overall history of photography. Tomas captures the elusive, metaphysical nature of his subjects—whether it’s a person, an ordinary object, or an inspiring work of architecture. He has exhibited in several First Fridays in Phoenix, Arizona, and in Kansas City, Missouri, including a showing at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center in the downtown arts district, and has also been featured in the LensCulture’s 2021 Black and White Awards gallery. Tomas is currently based in Kansas, and is working towards obtaining a BFA in design with a concentration in photography at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
