Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo describes a human face looking straight at the viewer, dirtied by clay and whose hair is all over the face.
The hair plays the role of prison cell bars. The subject is literally self-imprisoned by the limitations of his/her mental state.
This is a metaphor for how we accept to limit ourselves, our personalities and our lives in the binding world we live in. The potential of human beings never manages to fully develop and express.
AUTHOR
I'm a nude photographer based in Spain. My work is influenced by the sculptures of Ancient Greece and starts from the premise that aesthetics precedes the message. My message is essentially influenced by Carl Gustav Jung's concept of analytical psychology, especially the concept of "persona".
My work focuses on the symbolic use if postures and shapes, the play of shadows/light, textures. The scenes I photograph are made up of few elements. Normally a single subject, lots of negative space, no accessories (or rarely). The essential meaning of the message is transmitted by the isolated body.
