Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My first trip to Yellowstone National Park was in the winter. I had read about and seen great images of Yellowstone in that season I was frankly overwhelmed and amazed at the winter beauty! Bison, wolves, and coyotes seemed constantly on the move in search of food which made for wonderful photo opportunities. However, the landscape and scenes took on entirely different looks with the bitter cold and abundant snow cover. That made for different challenges but also very unique opportunities. While traveling in a van across Lamar Valley we came to view of open areas ahead with nobody or no wildlife anywhere near us. However, with the snow covered hills and dark winter sky this scene caught my eye. It had "monochrome" written all over it and I jumped out of the van, set up my tripod and camera and captured a lot of different compositions across open area. Of all the images taken, this was my favorite as it really spoke to the vastness and emptiness of this magnificent National Park landscape that I had experienced!
