Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Taken at Beals Point on Folsom Lake. I was done shooting for the day and heading back to my car when I saw the light falling on these trees. It looked like a mother tree sheltering her child.
AUTHOR
Since picking up my first camera in 1999, photography has been a vital creative outlet and a way to navigate the world around me. However, in 2015, when my mother began showing signs of dementia, my personal world shifted. Anxiety, sleepless nights, and panic attacks became a constant, reflecting the uncertainty and distress. Photography transformed from a passion into a form of solace.
In my work, I sought stillness in the midst of turmoil, focusing on capturing moments of quiet grace in daily life. No longer driven by trends, I started to focus on what truly mattered: the subtle, serene connection between humanity and nature.
