Nature: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My rural Texas home allows me to walk outside and shoot scenes that other people have to travel to and hunt for. While his mother wasn't around, this fawn was determined to cross the dam between two ponds on our place. His apprehensive demeanor and lifted leg defies the strong striped foliage behind him and his bold youthful spots. He made it, though, without getting went above his knees.
AUTHOR
I am the second of three generations of photographers. My father was a photojournalist. I owned/operated a one-hour photo and portrait studio. My son is a full time photographer. My father taught me. I taught my son. Now my son is helping me learn digital photography. I've always felt, probably due to growing up watching my father shoot for newspapers and magazines, that black and white photography can speak clearer and louder than color photography. Color has its place, that's for sure, but I've never gotten excited about vivid sunsets and fall colors. I'm into black and white, with three shades in between. I'm a 77-year old great grandmother who picks up my camera every day to walk my rural property looking for an interesting shot. Or I go into my makeshift studio to capture a still life that has popped into my imagination. I'm still learning and improving my trade. Life is good.
