ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Shewarobit, Amhara region, Ethiopia (1st November, 2021): the war is increasing in Ethiopia: government soldiers and the militia of Tigray People Liberation Front are still fighting not only in Tigray region, but also in Amhara and Oromia. The city of Dessie and Kombolcha town counts numerous victims, also civilians. In Shewarobit town, hundreds government soldiers escaping in Debre Birhan direction, and they are exhausted and mad. At the time of this photo, they shoot with kalashnikov on the main road of Shewarobit for have free road, creating the panic between the civilians. Dessie and Kombolcha have been recaptured in the half of December.
This invisible war, about which no one talks, is continuing, causing thousands of deaths and millions of refugees.
AUTHOR
Erberto Zani is an Italian photographer and journalist freelance, based between Parma (Italy) and Basel (Switzerland). Since 1998 until 2004 he worked as photographer in advertisement sector. After some years as journalist for a local newspaper, becomes independent since 2008. Most of his works are focused on human rights issues.
