Street: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
O POUSO (THE LANDING) is an image taken by an unexpected situation that I found when I was driving a car in a peripheral neighbourhood of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais Brazil and captured it.
The focus of my work process has been everyday creativity. What fascinates me most in life are the unexpected situations, what I can register and show them in a broader context. Surprising findings, incidents that awaken bring meanings, seducers of records that can arouse the gaze not only of mine but of whoever will eventually see.
On the periphery, life runs more spontaneously, without the visual control of the central neighbourhoods, precisely because low-income inhabitants live in limiting situations, everything is more exposed, especially the social reality that political systems hardly reach. With all due respect, I try to record ludic situations without exploring the misfortunes of these places and those who live in them. The birds on the horse show detachment, the freedom to land anywhere.
After all, in all types of life, accidents are fundamental!
