Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2022 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The American Wild Horse. An Icon. We traveled, explored and built this land by holding onto their manes and riding the spirit of their hearts. These beautiful legends, magnificent symbols of freedom and grace are being stripped from their homes, families torn apart and an icon will soon be lost forever.
They are the very salt of the earth, warriors of the land they live on, asking for nothing other than their freedom. All in the name of special interest and our encroaching world. To lose them would be a tragic disrespect to our past, present and our future.
Photographed on 240k acres of raw, open desert land in Utah.
AUTHOR
Having worked on both sides of the camera Kimerlee has the natural ability of capturing emotion. Delivering imagery that is unique, dramatic and evocative. Emphasizing graceful lines, rich textures and a view of the horse not done before. The intimate connection she captures leaves the viewer imagining their very breath on your face. Her style is created by countless hours spent observing and understanding the movements, thoughts and shear will of the horse. She has traveled to numerous remote and many times isolated locations, earning her place as one of the leading wild horse fine art photographers in the world. Her vision and work has become increasingly recognizable and celebrated by collectors around the globe. The allure of raw, wild, untouched beauty is the driving force behind these works and the oxygen to her soul.
Dedicated to the cause since 2004, Kimerlee's hope is to inspire others, not only to appreciate the beauty of these creatures, but to take an interest in helping preserve their place on this land. She is committed to the protection of wildness, her ongoing efforts not only chronicle the freedom of our wild horses on their home territory but more importantly help raise significant awareness for the plight they are continuing to face year after year. Round up after round up.
Her work reflects passion, purpose and is fused with environmental consciousness. Imagery has been donated many times over to organizations focusing on rescue and preservation efforts.
She is represented by fine galleries across the nation, has shown in multiple museums, and has acquired a national and international collector base. The work has been used in numerous advertising campaigns, product branding along with permanent collections in hotels and hospitals.
Most importantly, it has become a voice for those who don’t have one...our remaining wild horses.
