View Down on Borough Market and the Railway Lines by Malcolm Jenkins (United Kingdom)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Borough Market is London's premier food market and is nestled between a complex of busy interconnecting railway lines.
This shot was taken looking down from the Shard - the tallest building in Western Europe. I was drawn by the railway line curves which formed a sort of triangle beside the old London food market. Trains are continually running by on this busy intersection as can be seen from this image. There has been a market on this site back to at least the 12th century.
Monochrome seemed the right media to reflect the age of this area with its traditional Victorian buildings, winding old streets and rail links.
AUTHOR
A memory of past events, experiences and emotions through my eyes.
I have always loved photography. What I really enjoy is taking images that first and foremost appeal to me. They must always evoke a memory of a past event or an experience - the coldness of the snow, the taste of coffee, the smell of a perfume, the music which was playing at the time and most importantly, family and friends. To me, photography is a true art form which must have an emotional connection.
I have a fairly eclectic style. Basically, if I like it, I'll shoot it.
Photography for me is a journey of continual innovation and improvement - always striving to be better and trying to look at things in a different way - the inspiring moment, a dash of the unexpected and a hint of the unknown.
