A Berbers Daily Routine - Sahara Camel Trek by Christopher Harrison (United Kingdom)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photograph was taken in the expanse of the Merzouga Sahara Desert in Morocco. It captures a local Berber guide leading the way, with the rhythmic patterns of footprints and camel tracks etched into the sand, showcasing the interaction between man and nature. The image, taken from camelback, offers a unique perspective on the desert's vastness, highlighting the gentle curves of the dunes against the sky. The timing of the shot during sunset adds a peaceful and contemplative mood to the scene, with the soft light accentuating the sands textures and bringing a noticeable warm tone to the monochromatic landscape. A point which seems poignant is that this trip in time gone by would have still been travelled - with goods and explorers - now replaced with ever more increasing numbers of tourists. Black and white, for me, sends echos of time gone by.
