Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2023 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In January 2022 we were very lucky to have several consecutive days of haunting mist over the Somerset Levels, England. This allowed for many happy and creative hours to go hunting for locations to soak up the magical atmosphere. I was captivated by the striking shape of the tower of St Cuthbert’s church in Wells emerging from the mist-filled valley. I went back there at first light on three mornings and found that using a long lens from a vantage point in the Mendip Hills above the town produced the best results. This is my favourite image from the week.
ISO 100, 1/8 sec; 420mm at f/8; +2/3 EV; tripod.
