Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2023 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In 2021, pumice was generated by the eruption of submarine volcanoes in the Ogasawara Islands.
A large amount of pumice floating on the surface of the ocean had a serious impact on Japan's marine ecosystem.
I succeeded in photographing a humpback whale parent and child swimming in the pumice stone.
I want to express the threat of nature and the precious life that lives there.
The location is Japan, Okinawa, off the coast of Naha.
AUTHOR
Hi.
I'm nature photographer and dentist in Japan, 40 years old.
I love traveling and nature, so I started photography to express.
And the admiration for the unknown world underwater developed into diving and underwater photography.
What was my impression when I met a humpback whale for the first time, I can't put it into words.
