Photojournalism: 2nd Place Winner 2023 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is of Kazakh eagle hunters riding across the Sagsai river in Western Mongolia. Each hunter is mounted on a sturdy horse, their traditional attire reflecting the rich cultural heritage. These magnificent birds of prey, with their wings outstretched, exude power and grace and I was very fortunate to have been able to witness the deep connection between
the hunters and the natural world.
AUTHOR
I’m a Finnish-born photographer having spent the majority of my life in the UK and a year in Australia. Living in the multicultural city of London has developed my deep appreciation for different cultures and people.
My journey into photography began while working on various TV and film sets, such as TFI Friday, where I worked as a camera assistant. Alongside my drama studies, I discovered a passion for still photography, particularly in capturing the essence of people.
I’m a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and have a certificate from MoMA’s course, Seeing Through Photographs.
