Photomanipulation: Honorable Mention 2023 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My photography covers a very diverse range of styles and subject matter. I find it incredibly challenging and interesting to tackle a wide variety of subject matter. It expands my horizons and more importantly my skill set. It's very rewarding to be able to pick up my camera and confidently capture any subject matter, stories, uniqueness, moments, etc.
I have worked with classic cars many different ways. However, they have a propensity to be famous for shapes, colors, and intricate detail that seems best conveyed through color images. Therefore, producing these interpretations in monochrome takes some consideration before I feel like I have captured not only what my feelings and emotions are with regard to their character but present them in the best interpretation I can. Enjoy a walk through the past.
AUTHOR
Maureen Ravnik was born and raised in Minnesota. A brief visit to Colorado sold her on attending college there to pursue a career in sales & marketing. She stayed and never looked back. Working and traveling a lot in that discipline opened her eyes to the wonders of the American west and reawakened childhood tendencies to creatively document her discoveries. She began making images of the American west in hopes of preserving the history, the culture, and the dreams that shaped the west.
My methods and techniques are largely self-taught. I am deeply inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and Art Wolfe. My work is also derived from my imagination. My greatest satisfaction comes from taking the file from camera to computer to develop composites. The results reflect my personal feelings, beliefs, events, culture, etc. that are best expressed through artistic interpretations. My work is delivered in an array of styles that arc between realism, passionately abstract and doggedly figurative.
