ENTRY DESCRIPTION
As my daughter turned 5 years old, she had grown tired of being photographed, being my muse and the subject I love to capture the most. I asked her if we could take a photo for Halloween together and she agreed. My goal was to capture her wearing the dress I made for her when she was only 2 years old for her Halloween costume. As this will be the last year it will fit her.
Once she sat down, she started messing around and trying to tip her hat off. She wasn't trying to ruin the photo, but more be in control of the narrative. It wasn't the photograph I had envisioned, but a magical moment was captured. The moment after her hat had fallen and she was looking right into the camera.
I feel like we are examining her true self. A glimpse at the future. The appearance she might have as a teenager. She was a little baby just a short time ago, but suddenly, when did 5 become so grown up? It's impossible for me not to stare at her face. How much she has changed this year. The way she understands herself, what she wants, and what she likes. The most incredible part of my life will always be my relationship with her and I am passionate about watching her grow up. I love that I can capture these changes and moments with my camera. When she wants me too.
