ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I was roaming the streets hoping to bring home some good pictures, while this man passed by. I took a chance to stop him politely, compliment him for his refined outfit, state my business and ask him for a portrait. He was shy and wary at first, but after few words he became much less reluctant. But before I could shot his portrait he told me his story, where he came from and how he ended up in Italy from Somalia after WWII, becoming a renowned eye doctor, at least in the neighborhood.
At the very least for his outfit, I pointed out. And he chuckled and posed for me.
AUTHOR
Born in Bergamo (northern Italy), raised in Massa (Tuscany), and now based in Rome, I've been travelling a lot since my very first childhood and kept the good habit during my youth, because of relatives dispersed across Italy. Although quite shy, I'm extremely curious and eager to know the sorroundings and people's stories. And that's where photography comes into play: a powerful mean to get to know interesting people, keep memories, tell stories, and pass on my experiences. Photography wise, I always seek new challenges to keep my mind and my eye in shape. That's why I like to study a lot, both on books and on the field, looking up to photography masters and seeking advice from other photographers, no matter the genre.
