ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I visited the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia after completing the 'Great Ethiopian Run' in Addis Ababa, which I had entered to raise money for a local charity. The churches there have an incredible atmosphere, and I took many shots on that day to try and capture the moment. I made this image in Biete Queddus Mercoreus church, Lalibela, Ethiopia. It was very quiet, and I was the only visitor at that time. The priest greeted me and returned to his meditation, allowing me to compose his portrait in the streaming light.
