In April Ospreys return to Finland, but most lakes are still frozen. That creates a lot of action at places with open water. This photo was taken against the rising sun from a low-level photo hide maintained by the Finnish Osprey foundation. The backlit water drops make this photo stand out to me. But what is more difficult to see is that the Osprey actually caught two fish on this dive.
AUTHOR
I am an amateur wildlife photographer, fortunate enough to be based amidst the enchanting landscapes of Finland. While my main passion lies in capturing the captivating world of birds and other wildlife, I also seize any opportunity to turn my lens towards the breathtaking landscapes that unfold before me.
In my photographic journey, I find myself drawn to the essence of minimalism. Seeking simplicity, I strive to distill the essence of birds, focusing on their natural elegance and delicate details.
I do most of my photography up north, where the serene beauty of Finland's winter landscapes serves as an ideal backdrop for my subjects. The snow-laden surroundings offer a unique simplicity for any wildlife encounter. However, I also find great joy in venturing further afield to warmer climates, exploring new territories and capturing species that are new to my lens.
